Kai “Kaiborg” Rogers grew up under a roof of designers and builders. His Dad has been building custom high-end homes for over 38 years, and his Mom is a kitchen, bath, and interior designer. Growing up surrounded by that craftsmanship taught him the tools of the trade — and a standard for quality that's carried into every build.

Today, Kaiborg Builds channels that background into Craftsman Built Saunas, designed with intention and built to last. Kai works alongside a hand-selected team of skilled craftsman. Kai kicked off his carpentry career by converting a 36-foot school bus — 1360w of solar, a full kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and more — which he lived out of for 2 years on the Central Coast. He spent the next few years building custom van conversions for clients before bringing that hands-on experience to Craftsman Built Saunas.

Kai also runs a web design studio.

  • Barrel saunas look great in photos, but most people don't realize how much performance they're giving up. They underperform in heat retention, durability, and usable space — and that adds up over time.

  • It comes down to size and capacity. The Vesper is our compact model — a 1–5 person sauna with a 60" x 80" footprint and a 4.5kw Huum Drop heater, perfect for individuals, couples, or small households. The Vesper XL steps up to 1–7 people with a 70" x 90" footprint, ideal if you want more bench space or entertain with friends. The Ember is our largest build — a 1–9 person sauna at 82" x 100" with a more powerful 9kw Huum Cliff heater and an L-shaped bench layout that offers deeper, more spacious seating. All three share the same height, modern cabin aesthetic, WiFi control unit, and upgrade options including red light therapy and under bench lighting.

  • We use beautifully designed Huum Brand heaters with wifi capable controllers, allowing you to control your sauna heater from the Huum mobile app.

  • We have options for heater upgrades, glass door variations, red light therapy and under bench lighting.

  • We use Havelock sheeps wool, the best in the business. Non-toxic and the most sustainable insulation on the market.

  • 5 weeks

  • A concrete pad is best, but we can place our units on level gravel or pavers as well.

  • No. No volatile or toxic chemicals are used anywhere in our Saunas, keeping our saunas clean, healthy and smelling with beautiful cedar aromas.

  • For the interior, wipe down the benches regularly with a damp towel — occasionally with a small amount of diluted natural soap for a deeper clean. For the glass door, we recommend Bioclean glass cleaner (available on Amazon). On the outside, a fresh coat of stain once a year keeps it protected and looking great.
